Marie Lee, a Product Design Leader

I'm a product design leader with 11+ years of experience bridging human needs and technology, most recently at Meta where I spent 5.5 years designing for WhatsApp and Messenger's Business API platform, reaching 3B+ users globally.

At Meta, I led end-to-end UX for high-priority, 0 to 1 monetization initiatives with privacy and integrity at the core: scaling WhatsApp small businesses to advanced API solutions, API Calling announced by Mark Zuckerberg at Meta Conversations, Voice Messages expanding richer async communication, and OTP authentication improving the sign-in experience for businesses and consumers alike.

Before Meta, I spent 6 years as a Design Lead at IBM, shaping enterprise AI and analytics experiences across IBM Watson Assistant and Cognos Analytics, collaborating with global clients, earning innovation awards, and contributing to a published paper in business analytic applications.

A fine artist at core, my foundation was built at Emily Carr University of Art + Design, where I developed a deep appreciation for craft and visual communication, later complemented by a Diploma in Graphic Design and Interactive Media from Toronto Film School. That creative foundation was further deepened through a Master of Information in Knowledge Management at the University of Toronto, where I studied the ethics of design and how people interact with technology at a systems level.
