My role and stakeholders

Senior Product Designer and UX Architect; Worked closely with designers, engineers, and product managers to scope the work based on timeline and resources. Actions Beta was released in October 2020.


What is Watson Assistant?

Watson Assistant is an chatbot creating platform powered by the natural learning capabilities of Watson AI. Once project managers build the content of the chatbot, they have the ability to integrate to external platforms such as websites, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Slack, and Salesforce to better support their customers.

In Watson Assistant, there are two types of users the team needs to support: Chatbot authors and Chatbot users (customers). When an author is building a chatbot, utterances are grouped in Actions to trigger multiple inquiries and questions prompted by the customers. Topics can vary, such as customers inquiring about store hours and booking an appointment at a car dealership. The goal of this project is to help business users build chatbots as easily as possible.

Process

I orchestrated an evaluation of different saving models to determine which path was the right choice given our architectural restrictions. These models include Auto, Explicit, and Hybrid framework:
